PM Boc would prefer Culcer as head of public television

Leading journalist Robert Turcescu’s refusal to become the interim head of public television TVR left the ruling PDL with just two variants in hand: Rodica Culcer – the head of the News Department, and Cezar Ion – editorial production manager with TVR, daily ‘Evenimentul Zilei’ reports. According to the source, the Democrat-Liberals also proposed the job to film director Stere Gulea, but he turned down the offer. Out of the two, Culcer reportedly is Emil Boc’s first choice. PDL however fears her nomination would spark a wave of revolt among PSD and PNL, which would get the procedure blocked, allowing Sassu to stay in place until autumn. The final decision will be made today in a ruling coalition session.
