The founding president of the National Liberal Party (PNL), Radu Campeanu, Sunday told Mediafax he is going to submit to court within the next ten days a claim similar to that tendered by Peasant leader Ion Diaconescu, asking moral damages for the moral and physical suffering endured during detention. “I talked to a lady lawyer who informed me about a relevant law having been issued a year ago. I don’t know what such law contains, but I know Diaconescu won EUR 500,000. At that particular moment, the lawyer suggested me that I too could lodge a moral damage claim and I told her I will,” Campeanu said, adding he had been detained by communists for eight years, and receives a monthly allowance of 1,600 RON for having been a political detainee.
