The Speakers of the two Chambers of Parliament decided, yesterday, to call a joint assembly meeting on Tuesday, June 29, to appoint the Boards of Administration of the Romanian Radio Broadcasting Society (SRR) and the Romanian Television Society (SRTv). According to the leader of the ethnic minorities in the Chamber, Varujan Pambuccian, quoted by Agerpres, Ana Florea and Cornea Raico are the minorities’ nominees for the BA of SRR and SRTv. Moreover, the spokesperson for the National Liberal Party (PNL), Mihai Voicu, stated, yesterday, that “in principle” the Liberals would nominate Lucia Hossu Longin for the Board of Administration of the SRTv. The proposal was confirmed by the leader of the PNL senators, Puiu Hasotti, who added that the nominees for the BA of SRR will be Ducu Bertzi and Stejarel Olaru. The Democratic Liberal Party (PDL) was to choose its nominees yesterday at 19:00, while the Democratic Union of Hungarians in Romania (UDMR) was to appoint them yesterday, at 16:00, in a Standing Council meeting. The 2008 activity report of the Romanian Television was rejected, on March 30, by the Parliament’s joint assembly, which amounted to the removal of the BA of TVR, led by Alexandru Sassu. According to speculations, Sassu was taken down from the helm of the BA of TVR for political reasons, as Democrat Liberals wished to seize, at all costs, control of the Romanian public television by Rodica Culcer or Robert Turcescu.
