The Social Democrat Party (PSD) intends filing a criminal complaint with the High Court against Chamber of Deputies Speaker Roberta Anastase for abuse of office, claiming “fraudulent” voting by Parliament on assigning the presidents of the Romanian Radio and Television Broadcasting Companies, SRR and SR Tv, respectively, Mediafax reports. A PSD spokeswoman, Olguta Vasilescu, specified the criminal complaint might be tendered next week. Social-Democrats accuse the Lower House speaker of uttering and abuse of authority. According to Vasilescu, regulations of the two Chambers and that of the joint sessions, as well as of a law on the organisation and operation of the public radio and television broadcasting companies have been violated at the June 29 vote validating the presidents of SRR and SRTv, with Anastase chairing the joint session. “The ballot box contained but 220 balls, although Anastase had announced that 236 MPs were to vote. If only 220 votes were cast, it means the quorum was not met. Secondly, representatives of the PSD and the National Liberal Party (PNL) in the two Standing Bureaus did not sign the minutes attesting the voting outcome. It should have been signed by all the 26 members of the Standing Bureaus. The fraudulent voting was validated by Roberta Anastase, who behaves as she does only to satisfy the interests of a gang party,” Vasilescu also said.
