Vinexport Romania, one of the most important wine-makers on the local market, estimates sales of over EUR 1 M in China, the main external distribution market, a release by the company announces.

“China represents a giant market, which is, as yet, unaffected by the world crisis. Estimates indicate a market volume of 91.025 thousand litres – approximately 121.46 M bottles – at an average price of 3.12 USD/ bottle, according to the Baharat Book Bureau market research company. In the years to come, we propose to raise the ratio of wines priced over 3.75 USD, which is, at present, the highest price for our products on the Chinese market,” Angela Mares, Vinexport Romania marketing manager, stated. In 2009, the first year of activity on the Chinese market, Vinexport’s sales in the region accounted for 2.8 per cent of the company’s total earnings. At the present pace of the European market, and of the Romanian market in particular, Vinexport’s main focus are the markets in the Asia-Pacific region, and the company’s main target for 2010 is the promotion of its wines on the Asian market.

The Vrancea producer aims, thus, at boosting the ratio of its wine exports on the Chinese market to up to 10 per cent of last year’s turnover. To this purpose, Vinexport attended the most important wine fair in the world, Vinexpo – The international wine and spirit exhibition for Asia-Pacific, which took place between May 25 and 27, in Hong Kong. Up to 2012, Vinexport has set to reach a target of one per cent of China’s total imports of 0.75 litre-bottled wine.
