Romanian FM visits Seoul

During his visit to Seoul, Foreign Minister Teodor Baconschi discussed co-operation within the UN and ASEM (Asia-Europe Meeting), as well as developments in the Korean Peninsula in the context of the taking over by Romania of the EU’s local representation in Penman for July 1 – December 31, 2010, MAE reports. A MAE release informed yesterday that FM Baconschi had held political and diplomatic consultations with the South-Korean Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Yu Myung-hwan, ‘also addressing regional and international topics of common interest.’ ‘An important moment in the bilateral talks of the two foreign ministers was the signing of the Romania-Korea Joint Action Plan for the implementation of the Declaration of Strategic Partnership. The paper sets a framework for sectoral co-operation on a medium and long term between the two countries, in the political and security areas – including energy security – , trade and diversification of South-Korean investment portfolio in Romania,’ MAE’s release further states. Sources also inform both parties emphasized economic co-operation, Minister Baconschi expressing Romania’s willingness to increase volume of South-Korean investment in our country as well as bilateral trade.
