Miss Universe Romania organization presented in a press conference yesterday the 30 finalists to compete in a televised contest for the title of Miss Universe Romania 2010.
The organization’s president, Mike Costache, said on the occasion it was his wish to bring this contest to Romania this year, yet, financial crisis prevented him from doing so. He also expressed his hope Romania’s representative will rank at least among the top 15 contenders in the Las Vegas-hosted Miss Universe competition.
More than 2,000 candidates from across Romania registered in the competition, of whom the jury, made up of television, cinematography, fashion and beauty industry experts, picked 30 young women to vie for the title of Miss Universe Romania 2010 on July 9.
The much-coveted Miss silver-made crown adorned with Swarovski crystals was made in the United States. The show contest will last two hours and will be structured on two parts. Several trendy artists, among whom DJ Sava and Raluca, Andreea Balan, Elena Mateo and Andreea Banica, have been invited to attend the event.
A number of eight prizes will be awarded: Miss Universe Romania 2010, the First Runner up Prize, Second and Third Runner up Prizes, along with Miss Photogenic, Miss Popularity, the Press Prize and Miss Congeniality.
The US city of Las Vegas will host this year’s Miss Universe contest, the 59th, on August 23, at the Mandalay Bay resort and Casino. The winner of the more than 80 aspirants to the title will be crowned by Miss Universe 2009 Stefania Fernandez. Miss Universe is an annual beauty contest organized by Miss Universe Organization, a company owned by Billionaire Donald Trump since 1996.
