Prosecutors to start probe against Romanian envoy to Chile

Prosecutors of the High Court of Cassation and Justice on Thursday took notice of the case of the Romanian ambassador to Chile, Valentin Florea, who was involved in a car crash last Monday. Prosecutors are now probing the diplomat, who is suspect of personal injury, Mediafax reports.

Examining the available data and hints led prosecutors to the conclusion that Florea was driving an automobile that belonged to the Romanian diplomatic mission to Chile, on a public road in the Vitacura area of Santiago de Chile, “He made a wrong U-turn and hit another automobile, driven by a person aged 28,” who was severely injured in the impact.

According to Chilean public television TV Chile, the Romanian ambassador was not tested for DUI and was not arrested for the accident. In his turn, Mario Schilling, the spokesman for the prosecutor’s office of Oriente, Santiago de Chile said judiciary authorities are doing everything necessary to inform the Romanian government about the incident, so all due measures are taken.
