The ‘Princess Sophia’ passenger ship, sailing under Swiss flag, ran aground yesterday, when it hit a sandbank on the Serbian side of the Danube, at Km 910, near the Romanian village of Batoti, Mehedinti County, Realitatea TV reports. The ship left Russe, Bulgaria, with the destination Germany, carrying 126 tourists and 36 crew members. According to the Drobeta Turnu Severin Port Administration, the ship ran aground because of a smaller than usual depth of the river. A Romanian tugboat and a Ukrainian one were called put the ship to float. Nobody was injured in the incident.
