The Little Riviera, a new hanging-out spot for Bucharesters

Bucharest City Hall inaugurated, on Saturday night, the Little Riviera, a new hanging-out spot situated on the Independence Quay, around the Unirea Square, where Bucharesters will be able to sit in the gardens along the Dambovita quay and to watch concerts, stand-up comedy performances and other shows. “After the success this summer’s Via Sport project proved to be, bringing out 10,000 people every weekend, Bucharest City Hall decided to extend the range of alternatives for entertainment in the Capital. The slogan ‘Away from the city, in the centre of Bucharest’ points out the Little Riviera as the spot in which entertainment and relaxation will continue, even after the time for vacation is over, by concerts, stand-up comedy shows and performances,” representatives of the City Hall explain in a release.

In the Little Riviera area, Bucharesters will be able to hang out in the gardens along the Dambovita quay, for about two months. The Little Riviera is a pilot project whose continuance will depend on people’s response.

“Bucharest City Hall will turn the Little Riviera into a standing project for the Capital only at their request,” according to the quoted source. Representatives of the Mayor’s Office argue that, by the Little Riviera project, Bucharest City Hall is placing Bucharest on the map of European capitals, in which “the city’s main attraction spots are enhanced by continuous development”.
