Prof. Serban Marinescu, M.D., the head of the Intensive Care service of Elias Hospital and the manager of this medical institution, died, Tuesday morning, after a prolonged illness, Dr. Daniela Safta, the hospital’s medical manager, stated, for Agerpres. A resonant name in anaesthesia and intensive care, Dr. Serban Marinescu, was the chairman of the Romanian Anaesthesia Society and a member of the Academy of Medical Sciences. He will be laid out on Wednesday, 12:00, in the Council Hall of the Elias Hospital, after the coffin bearing his body will stop for a few minutes at the central Military Hospital, where he worked for several years as the head of the Intensive Care Unit. Serban Marinescu was born on March 11, 1947, in Cranguri Township, Dambovita County. He graduated from the Faculty of General Medicine in 1971 and went on to become a Doctor in Medical Sciences in 1997 and university reader in 1999.
Since 1992 he was the head of the Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Ward of the Central Military Emergency Hospital, and, in May 2002, he was appointed commander of the “Dr. Carol Davila” Central Military Emergency Hospital. He acted as head of the Elias Hospital since 2009.
