PNL to boycott Basescu in Parliament

The Central Political Bureau of the National Liberal Party (PNL) decided, yesterday, that the party’s MPs should not take part in the joint meeting of the two Chambers of Parliament scheduled for September 21, when Traian Basescu is to address the Legislative. “We believe that Traian Basescu’s statements, irrelevant of the context in which they are made, have long forsaken the right to be treated with the gravity and respect which the office this individual is temporary holding would commend. We think that the large majority of Romanian society has lost all patience towards Traian Basescu’s arsenal of lies and empty words,” reads a communiqué.
