Woman badly hurt trying to ‘fly’ piano into Dambovita River

A 26-year-old woman suffered a severe accident when trying to ‘fly’ an improvised flying machine in the shape of a piano above the Dambovita River in Bucharest within the Red Bull Flugtag event. The woman jumped from six-metre height, fell into the river together with her piano and suffered a blackout at the contact with the water. She was taken to the ER of the Bucharest University Hospital by an ambulance and the doctors found that she had suffered a spine vertebra fracture. The woman underwent surgery yesterday and doctors say everything went smoothly. Hospital spokesman, Dr. Bogdan Popescu, has told Mediafax the young woman could make a full recovery, with no visible sequelae being left, after a certain period of rehabilitation. Another male competitor was also hurt, but the lesions he suffered were not as serious as the woman’s. The contest was exclusively for home-made aerial contrivances that could be pushed by the 4 members of the crew.
