The “Friends of Opera” Association makes its public debut tomorrow, organizing, in partnership with ArtMark and the Bucharest National Opera (ONB), in the Yellow Foyer of the Bucharest Opera House, starting 19:00, the silent auction of a number of objects once owned by the most illustrious artists – singers and dancers. In anticipation of the new season, the “Friends of Opera” Association aims to raise, by this event, a first batch of funds which will be allotted to opening a souvenir shop in the Opera foyer, following the example of the world’s great lyrical theatres. The proceeds from sales in the shop will be, entirely, at the disposal of the Bucharest National Opera, to supplement its insufficient financial resources, gravely affected, also, by the recession. Elena Dacian, Florin Diaconescu, Constantin Gabor, Veronica Garbu, Ruxandra Donose, Ileana Iliescu, Marina Krilovici, Hero Lupescu, Daniel Magdal, Lucian Marinescu, Ionel Voineag, Emil Marinescu, Lucian Marinescu, Vasile Martinoiu, Marina Mirea, Elena Mosuc, Octavian Naghiu, David Ohanesian, Constantin Petrovici, Elena Simionescu, Ludovic Spiess, Cornel Stavru, Sanda Sandru, Valentin Teodorian, Leontina Vaduva are those who used, at a certain point in their exceptional careers, the objects put up on auction. The initiators of this endeavour invite the public, as well as VIPs and sponsors, to join the efforts of the initiators, becoming members of the “Friends of the Opera” Association, close friends of singing and dancing, supporters of our great artists, Romania’s leading representatives on the world’s great stages. On the same evening, the ArtMark auction will take place, marking the beginning of the “Art Stock Exchange” Autumn Season. The silent auction is the first of his genre organized in Romania, just as the open auction is the first specialized in Impressionist and Post-Impressionist works on the Romanian market.
