Gcal price to rise in March

The price per gigacalory will be raised at RON 124, as of next March, owing to the raising of VAT, Realitatea.net reports. According to the deputy general mayor, Mircea Raicu, maintaining the RON 124 tariff will be possible only if the City Hall and the Government ensure the subvention for the population, that is, the remaining amount up to the real price per gigacalory, which is, RON 298.61. This spring, the Bucharest Mayor’s Office had proposed that the subvention be granted only to people with low incomes. The general mayor Sorin Oprescu stated, in this context, that only 46-48 per cent of the people in Bucharest would need subventions, while the rest would have to pay the price in full.
