Police dismantle drug-trafficking paramilitary group

Prosecutors with the Anti-Organized Crime and Counter-Terrorism Department (DIICOT) dismantled for the first time in Romania a paramilitary network whose operations included drug-trafficking. Its leader is 40-year-old Horatiu Potra, a former French Foreign Legion officer holding both Romanian and French citizenship, who fought in various areas of South Africa, ‘Puterea’ online edition writes. According to DIICOT prosecutors, the 16-strong ring operated in the counties of Sibiu and Mures. Prosecutors learned that this year, group members have cultivated, prepared, possessed, transported and marketed large amounts of cannabis in Sibiu and Mures counties, from which they obtained large sums of money.
