The painting “The Ox Cart”, by Nicolae Grigorescu, was sold for EUR 155,000 on Thursday evening, in an auction organized by the Artmark Auction House in Bucharest, thus becoming one of the most expensive art works ever traded on the Romanian market. The famous work was put on sale within the “Romanian Impressionism and Post-Impressionism” auction, which took place at the Bucharest National Opera. Estimated at EUR 150,000-250,000, the bid for the work started at EUR 100,000 and it finally closed at EUR 155,000. “The Ox Cart” became, thus, one of the most expensive works sold in Romania. Grigorescu’s painting is second in the ranking of the most expensive art works traded on the Romanian market, which is led by the painting “Aise”, signed by Camil Ressu, put on auction by Artmark and sold for EUR 160,000.
