The general mayor of Bucharest, Dr. Sorin Oprescu, announced, yesterday, that, following an analysis conducted alongside experts, the institution decided to maintain subventions for central heating for all the citizens of Bucharest. “We will make a supplementary budget effort, for this year, the price of the Gigacalory will be maintained at RON 100, plus the VAT. According to a preliminary estimate, the budget will amount to RON 226 M, up to the end of the winter, that is, approximately, EUR 52 M, for the benefit of the citizens of Bucharest. We’re all going through a difficult time, in economic terms, and, as a general mayor, I have the obligation to find ways to reduce the citizens’ vulnerability in the context of the recession,” the mayor underlined. Moreover, he stated that he wanted to solve the problem of the “black hole” as it is called the Autonomous Central Heating Distribution Direction (RADET). He explained that the restructuring of RADET had been going on for a year, resulting in an evaluation whose conclusions would be presented to the City Hall Council next week and would be the starting point for measures to reorganize the direction, to prevent further problems from appearing next year.
