France runs into problems ahead of game against Romania

French head coach Laurent Blanc faces several problems ahead of Saturday’s game against Romania. Frank Ribery and Patrick Evra are still suspended, while Hatem Ben Arfa has become unusable after Nigel de Jong broke his leg in the last Premier League leg. Moreover, head coach Laurent Blanc has problems with the extended line-up too and complains that Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema is psychically frail, with any criticism or missed opportunity ruining his game, Realitatea.net informs.

After the French head coach was forced to make a last-minute change to the extended line-up following Bacary Sagna’s injury, on Wednesday his ability to use two other players – Abou Diaby and Alou Diarra – became uncertain. On Wednesday morning midfielder Alou Diarra left the team’s training session after only one hour, suffering an injury to his right ankle. Girondins de Bordeaux’s midfielder was immediately examined by the team doctor and was able to take some steps but preferred to play it safe, ‘Le Parisien’ informs.

The state of nervousness within the French team is also caused by the pressure to obtain good results. The team had a modest start to its EURO 2012 qualifiers, winning only three points out of six possible.
The French press is talking about the possibility of seeing Samir Nasri and Yoann Gourcouff in France’s main line-up. Despite these rumors, head coach Blanc pointed out that he mulls using the same players he used in the game against Bosnia. “Gourcouff needs time to settle in at his new team (Lyon – editor’s note); I don’t think he lost his qualities in two-three months. Likewise, Samir can be a solution. I don’t know whether they will both play or whether none of them will. I might use the same midfielders I used against Bosnia,” the French head coach said.

Moreover, Blanc was angered by Benzema being late at the team’s meeting. “Benzema did not play against Deportivo La Coruna, so he should have been here on time. The meeting was scheduled at 11:30 but I believe some players would have found it difficult to arrive here at 12:30 just as well,” Blanc concluded, being quoted by HotNews.ro.
