Priest in Olt County flees to Greece with 30 nuns

The father confessor Nichita Pascan and 30 nuns from the Brancoveni Monastery in Olt packed their bags, two weeks ago, boarded on a bus and headed for Greece, to join a sect, according to a statement of the mother superior, Eufrosina Stanciu, quoted by adevarul.ro.

According to the representatives of the Slatina and Romanati Bishopric, the priest, who had been serving for 25 years at the Brancoveni Monastery, had repeatedly voiced his interest in the Old-Rite Orthodox sects, which abide by the Julian calendar. Representatives of the Church stated that nuns may return to the convent, but that the priest risks being excommunicated.
