Rovana Plumb elected head of PSD women’s organization

The MEP Rovana Plumb was re-elected, unanimously, yesterday, the president of the Social-Democrat Party (PSD)’s Women’s Organization, during the body’s Congress which was held at the Parliament Palace. As a matter of fact, Rovana Plumb was the sole contender for the office. Present to the Congress, the PSD President, Victor Ponta, stated, in reference to Rovana Plumb’s fairly critical remarks on the present Government, that he wished that the ladies in PSD would refer less to “the women in the Democrat Liberal Party (PDL)” and more to the problems of women in Romania, who are waiting for the Social-Democrats to come up with solutions. Ponta’s statement comes in response to Rovana Plumb’s calling, on behalf of the PSD women’s organization, for Roberta Anastase’s stepping down as Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies. However, the women in PSD took the occasion to attack vehemently other rivals in the PDL: Elena Udrea, Sulfina Barbu or Monica Iacob-Ridzi.
