Hurezeanu resigns as Realitatea-Catavencu group president

Journalist and commentator Emil Hurezeanu resigned as president of Realitatea-Catavencu media group, the head of the group’s administration board, Sorin Freciu said, quoted by Realitatea.net. Hurezeanu nonetheless will remain part of the media group and will continue his activity with Realitatea TV as show producer and participant in debates on internal and international matters. The new general director of Realitatea TV, Stelian Tanase, said he had nothing to do with Hurezeanu’s decision. “It’s a big loss. I am not yet actively involved in my position. I talked to Hurezeanu and explained that I really regret” his decision, Tanase said. Hurezeanu was named president of Realitatea-Catavencu group on February 1, 2009, replacing Sergiu Toader on the job. A graduate of the Cluj Law School and of political studies’ school in Boston, over his career he has collaborated with various publications and media outlets, including Radio Free Europe, Deutsche Welle, Antena 1 TV channel, Europa FM and ‘Romania libera.’
