The European Football Federation (UEFA) is planning to modify the system on the basis of which the funds obtained from broadcasting rights are distributed among international football federations. Thus, according to Spain’s ‘As’ daily, UEFA will propose an equitable distribution of revenues obtained from broadcasting rights and advertisement starting with the EURO 2016 and WC 2018 preliminaries. UEFA wants to even the percentages that each football federation receives, taking inspiration from the system used in the Europa League and the Champions League where clubs receive a fixed percentage plus a percentage from the commercial sales value of the broadcasting rights on the national markets. At this moment the federations are those that are negotiating the broadcasting contracts with various TV networks. However this system represents a disadvantage for the federations whose teams have a lower level and UEFA wants these federations to benefit from a greater share even though the larger teams will be against it.
