Explosion damages building, injures two in Timisoara

Two people were burned Saturday morning in Timisoara, in an explosion that occurred because of gas accumulation, Agerpres reports. According to the Banat Inspectorate for Emergencies, a quantity of natural gas escaped from the central heating device, accumulated in the building and exploded at some moment. Two occupants of the building – a young woman and a teenager boy – were severely burned in the explosion and had to be taken first to the Timisoara hospital, then to Bucharest, by military aircraft. The woman – aged 21 – has burns on 81 pc of her body, while the boy aged 16 was burned on 35 pc of his body. Both victims also have burns on the upper respiratory tract. The Inspectorate for Emergencies is conducting an investigation into the incident, to find out exactly why the blast occurred.
