Mark Gitenstein: CSM elections process has to be transparent

The US Ambassador to Bucharest, Mark Gitenstein, stated, on Friday, that he hoped the elections for the High Council of Magistrates (CSM) would be a transparent process, Agerpres reports. “First and foremost, the stake of these elections is the very future of democracy and of the free market in Romania. Secondly, I know many of you are anxious for a change, but it takes time and changes at the court level, and I hope these debates will mark the beginning of this process,” Gitenstein said, in a debate on the importance of elections for CSM. “American investments are essential and they depend on a stable judiciary system,” the ambassador added.
