The businessman Sorin Ovidiu Vintu checked in, yesterday morning, at the Cardiology ward of the Floreasca Hospital of Bucharest, after experiencing chest pains. According to “Romania Libera”, the doctors’ diagnosis is embolism, and the owner of Realitatea TV underwent tests to account for the presence of blood clouts in his lungs. Vintu was hospitalised at Floreasca two years ago, with a similar condition. “We are to perform further tests so we can provide the adequate treatment,” the spokesman for the Floreasca Hospital, Dr. Bogdan Oprita, stated, quoted by the aforementioned source. Vintu suffers from polio and, during his time in custody at the Criminal Investigation Direction, he refused medication and food. On October 14, Vintu, Octavian Turcan and Alexandru Stoian were deferred to justice by the General Prosecutor’s Office, on charges of providing material assistance to fugitive Nicolae Popa, sentenced to a 15 years’ prison sentence in the FNI case.
