Babysitter and child hit by vehicle on pedestrian crossing

According to the police, the accident took place last Thursday on a pedestrian crossing in Iasi. A babysitter and the child she was caring for were hit by a Peugeot 307. The 60-years-old woman had the two-year-old child in a pram while using a pedestrian crossing on the Copou Boulevard. A bus stopped on the first lane, but the driver of a Peugeot speeding on the second lane did not, hitting the woman and overturning the pram. The driver fled from the scene. According to police representatives, the child did not suffer serious injuries however the babysitter’s injuries called for medical care. “The car had been put on APB for being stolen and was discovered in Neamt County one day after the accident. A 17-year-old youngster was driving it. He now has a criminal file for theft and driving without a license and has been placed under arrest for 19 days” said Virginia Pralea, spokesperson of the Iasi Police.
