Voiculescu: Fight against the head of state, “a civic duty”

In an interview for ‘Jurnalul National,’ Dan Voiculescu, founding president of the Conservative Party, criticizes his opponent President Traian Basescu, pointing out that the fight against him has become a civic duty and that this year’s economic and social disaster “is 100 per cent the Basescu regime’s responsibility.”

“Basescu is a structural danger for Romania. This President whose general knowledge is limited and whose life experience is rudimentary is an error of history. He hasn’t accomplished anything in the last six years. He survives exclusively through conflict and this conflict threatens the very existence of Romanian society. During his terms poverty is doubled by hatred and distrust. Thus, the fight against Traian Basescu has become a civic duty, a social responsibility. I don’t have personal anti-Basescu stakes,” Voiculescu said. He also answered the ruling coalition’s reproaches according to which the opposition parties lack real solutions for the current crisis. “The opposition has solutions and all opposition parties have proposed concrete solutions for the current crisis. ” the Conservative leader pointed out.
