The Romanian women’s gymnastics team finished the Gymnastics World Championships in Rotterdam (The Netherlands) on 4th place (173,096 points). Ana Porgras obtained the highest score among Romanian gymnasts in the balance beam event (15,066 points). Russia finished on 1st place.
Romania had a constant evolution during the final but was unable to rank higher than 4th place. The team entered the competition in the uneven bars event, being on 4th place (42,232 points) after the first rotation, behind Russia (45,766 points), China (44,666 pts) and the US (44,665 pts). The balance beam event did not bring an improvement, Romania continuing to be 4th with 85,764 points. However China took the lead after the second rotation (88,982 pts) thanks to the exceptional evolution of Kexin He (15,333 pts). The US climbed on second place (87,864 pts) while Russia dropped to third place (87,665 pts) after two errors in the uneven bars event. The third rotation saw Romania competing in the floor event. China remained on top position (131,548 pts), Russia climbed on second place (131,398 pts) and the US dropped to third place (129,530 pts). Romania remained on fourth place (128,830 pts) after Porgras, Chelaru and Izbasa performed.
The US delivered the surprise after the last rotation, finishing on second place after the vault event. Russia took part in the floor event and won the world title with a total of 175,397 points. China finished on third place and Romania on fourth place.
