LG Optimus 7, first Windows 7 phone in Romania, from Vodafone

Yesterday, mobile telephony operator Vodafone launched in Romania, the LG E900 Optimus terminal falling under the ‘smartphone’ category and using the Microsoft Windows Phone 7 operating system.

By the end of the year, the new telephone will be available in the Vodafone and partner stores in the country, as well as in the operator’s online shop by the end of the current month, with prices starting from EUR 129 in combination with the Vodafone Complet 2000 and 1GB of mobile phone internet plan, up to EUR 219 attached to the Complet 800 and 1GB of mobile phone internet plan, for two-year contracts. The LG E900 Optimus 7 is HSDPA-compatible and allows Internet access at speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps. Without a subscription, the price of the new phone is EUR 414.

‘This year, the smartphones will represent 10 per cent of the terminal sales volume in Romania and 17 per cent of the generated income. This type of terminals is being fast accepted by consumers and we won’t be surprised to see that they reach 20 per cent market share in the next year,’ Vodafone Romania Chief Commercial Officer Karsten Wildberger told a press conference on Thursday. The LG E900 Optimus 7 has a 3.8 inch capacitive multi-touch screen, WVGA, 1 Ghz processor, 5 MP autofocus camera module, 1,500 mAh battery, 256 MB of ROM and 512 MB of RAM and integrated GPS.
