Nurse body repatriated

The body of the 32-year-old Romanian nurse who died after being hit by an Italian man at the Rome underground, Maricica Hahaianu, was returned to her home locality of Ramnicu Sarat Saturday afternoon. Over 50 people – acquaintances and friends – were waiting for the coffin at the chapel of the Cuvioasa Paraschiva Cathedral in Ramnicu Sarat city. The woman’s husband, Adrian Hahaianu, had accompanied the body on the way back from Italy and will be present for the funeral service to be officiated on Tuesday at the cemetery in the village of Oreavu, 5 km off Ramnicu Sarat, where Maricica will be buried next to the grandmother who had raised her after her parents had got a divorce. Maricica Hahaianu, aged 32, fell into a coma on Friday, October 8, after being punched by 20-year-old Alessio Burtone at the Anagnina underground station in Rome. Following a PSD initiative, a Rome square in the vicinity of the tube station where the attack happened will be named after her, a PSD release reads.
