Speeding and adverse weather conditions have been the cause of many accidents reported over the week-end. Two vehicles overturned in a chain collision involving three cars on the A2 motorway Saturday night. The most probable case of the accident was the fog and speeding. Infotrafic Centre official Paul Ulieru said traffic was soon restored to normal conditions in the Cernavoda area of the motorway where the accident had occurred. Commissar Ulieru also added there were no injured victims and that the traffic had to be diverted from motorway A2 onto national road no. 3 Fundulea-Lehliu for approximately 30 minutes. Another accident hindered traffic on national road 6, between Drobeta Turnu Severin and Craiova, Sunday morning, where an ethanol-carrying road tanker tipped over, the driver failing to spot in due time an utility van parked on the right-hand side of the road and crashed intro it. The accident occurred on national road 6, in the locality of Arginesti, in Mehedinti County, at about 3:30, Mediafax reports. Mehedinti County Police spokeswoman Andreea Dobre said the driver of the road tanker causing the accident was a Bulgarian national. ‘The road tanker tipped over in the crash. As spillage was noticed and there was an explosion hazard, the traffic had to be suspended`, Dobre further explained. Twenty-one firemen with the Mehedinti Emergency Rescue Inspectorate (ISU) went to the scene of the accident, enclosed the area and intervened with three water and foam-spreading vehicles to wash out the spillage from the carriageway and remove the danger of explosion. The Police are conducting further inquiries into the exact circumstances of the accident. Unofficial sources suggest the dead driver was a Bucharest policeman.

Young people who died in traffic accidents were commemorated in a march organised by the Bucharest Traffic Police yesterday. From 11:30 to 14:30, the participants marched along the route Nicolae Grigorescu Boulevard-Liviu Rebreanu Boulevard-Basarabia Boulevard-Muncii Square-Decebal Boulevard.
