Romania’s public debt climbs to 35 pc of GDP

According to the Ministry of Public Finance, Romania’s public debt stood at RON 179 bln at the end of August, ‘Financiarul’ writes. The value represents 35.05 per cent of the country’s GDP, growing by 5 per cent compared to its level last year when it stood at 29.99 per cent of GDP. Of its total, approximately 94 per cent represented government debt. Most of that debt, namely more than RON 72 bln, came from state loans.
