Sterling withdraws request for offshore shareholding transfer

Sterling Resources have withdrawn the request filed with the National Agency for Mineral Resources (ANRM) for the transfer to Melrose Resources BV of a stock of 32.5 per cent of the Pelican and Midia perimeters Sterling holds in the Romanian offshore area, according to a press release received by Nine O’Clock. November 1 was the date when the notification made to ANRM came into effect. ‘The impossibility of obtaining the approval for the transfer prevented the continuation of operations in connection with the Ana and Doina discoveries, as well as the performance of further activities of exploration and evaluation of perimeters. Sterling intends to actively continue its off-shore operations by common agreement with the other companies in connection with which transfer requests have been made – Petro Ventures Europe BV and Gas Plus International BV,’ the company release further states.
