Foreign soldier dies in suspected insurgent attack in Afghanistan

A soldier serving under the banner of the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) was killed Tuesday in southern Afghanistan, the alliance said. The soldier died in a suspected insurgent attack, the ISAF said without revealing the deceased’s nationality or details about the nature of the attack. The casualty came a day after two other ISAF troops died in a roadside bomb blast in the same volatile region. A total of 614 foreign soldiers have been killed in Afghanistan so far in 2010, the bloodiest year for the 150,000 US and other NATO troops that are currently based in the war-torn country.
