Romtelecom, fairly good results under unfavourable circumstances

Given the fall in consumption as a result of the public sector wage cuts and the hiking of VAT, Romtelecom had fairly good results under unfavourable circumstances, reporting a 6.5 drop in the revenue corresponding to the third quarter of 2010, compared to the same interval of 2009, the general manager of Romtelecom, Yorgos Ioannidis, announced, in a press release. Nonetheless, compared to Q3 of the preceding year, Romtelecom reported, in 2010, a continued rise in the number of contracts, at a lower pace than before the crisis, amounting to a total of approximately 4.6 million contracts. There has been an over 20 pc rise both in the number of broadband Internet clients, as well as in the number of TV services users, in Q3 of 2010, compared to Q3 of 2009, and the latter number surpasses at the moment one million users.
