The mayor of Craiova, Antonie Solomon, was re-elected president of the Craiova branch of the Democratic Liberal Party (PDL), on Saturday. Solomon said his corruption case is not due to bear an effect on his political career, as “there is no such thing as a family without a member being opened criminal procedures against.” Asked, during a press conference at the party’s Craiova headquarters Saturday, whether his corruption case pending in the Galati Tribunal will have an impact on his political career, Solomon had this to say: “Not at all. There are six million criminal files in Romania. Therefore, there is not a single family without a member not having a criminal file opened on them. I believe in the justice system and I strongly believe clear proof will be brought that I have no connection whatsoever with this supposed act of corruption. If the culprits are found, Solomon will not be one of them.” Antonie Solomon was re-elected Friday evening president of PDL Craiova. Also, in Arad, the head of the local branch ran for the same position and, as he had no counter-candidate was elected for another term.
