Belgium, honorary guest of Gaudeamus 2010

The 17th edition of the International Fair Gaudeamus – Books for Learning will take place, this year, between November 18 and 22, in the Romexpo Central Pavilion in the Capital. As of this year’s edition, the Fair will boast, each year, the presence of an honorary guest. In 2010, the honorary guest is Belgium – Wallonia Brussels, an option based on the shared cultural affinities, as well as on opportunities for cooperation and professional exchanges on the book market, between the two countries. The moment also marks the Belgian presidency of the European Union Council, between July and December 2010. The honorary president of the Gaudeamus 2010 International Fair is Mr. Jacques Dubois, a widely celebrated Belgian philologist, Professor of Modern Literature and Sociology of Literature at the University of Liège, the author of numberless prestigious studies, exploring, particularly, crime novel and Georges Simenon’s work.
