Elena Udrea’s financial disclosure questioned

‘Evenimentul zilei’ daily yesterday claimed the financial disclosure statement submitted by Tourism Minister Elena Udrea misses some of the value of the government contracts one of her spouse’s firms had been awarded. According to the newspaper, the minister only declared EUR 1.5 M of the total of EUR 9.2 M stipulated by the agreements between Clamari Impex Trading SRL, fully owned by Dorin Cocos, and the Bucharest emergency hospitals. The firm owned by the minister’s husband provides reagents to emergency care hospitals in the Capital. Elena Udrea has told the named daily that she had filled into her financial disclosure figures given to her by her husband’s accounting department. The explanation given by Udrea for the inconsistency between the figures posed into the public procurement electronic system SEAP and those included in her financial disclosure statement was that the company ‘received orders of lesser value than the originally estimated value of the contract at the time it had been awarded, value that I disclosed’. ‘The problem is that, under the law, the total amounts officials and the members of their families can receive from the state under agreements concluded in the course of their term in office, in other words amounts published in the SEAP, must be declared’, the daily notes.
