Liberals, Social-Democrats trading barbs again

Liberal leader Crin Antonescu yesterday came with a retort to PSD’s invitation to participate in one of the party meetings. “I am no communist,” he argued, and explained that “although PNL and PSD have common objectives “does not mean we must erase all political history.” I don’t understand where from comes this surprise of the Social- Democrats upon hearing my criticism addressed to them. I am merely following a PNL vision and I have voiced this kind of criticism before, “ Antonescu told Realitatea TV.

The Liberal also said that, although backing up PSD’s fighting the same common enemy, “there is no obligation or engagement from the Liberals to speak about PSD as if they were born yesterday.”

Following a line of criticism launched during the past weekend by Antonescu, Social- Democrat Adrian Nastase said the party will not “follow the game and will not react to his critical statements.”

On Friday, Crin Antonescu told a press conference that the ones to blame for bringing and keeping in power Traian Basescu and the PDL are the Social-Democrats. He also referred to PSD head Victor Ponta as a “a prosecutor in the PM’s Control Body who never managed to catch any corrupt person, not even Traian Basescu.”

In his turn, Ponta showed no real reaction to the Liberal’s critics, saying they would not affect the relationship between the two parties. “Our real fight here is with the system Basescu and Boc have instated in this country, we must create viable solutions,” Ponta said yesterday, at the end of the PSD’s standing bureau meeting.
