Strategic export sectors – machine building, agriculture, IT and tourism

A major goal of Romania’s export strategy for 2011 is to further support and promote those economic sectors that had very good results, such as the machine building industry, agriculture, IT and tourism, according to Borbely Karoly, state secretary with the Ministry of Economy, Commerce and Business Environment (MECMA) and co-president of Romania’s Export Council. “At present, 72 pc of Romanian exports go to countries of the European Union, but we must also develop the trade with non-Euro states. We should consider the emerging economic powers – Russia, China, Brazil and India – where our exports are very small,” Borbely Karoly explained.
