Fencing: Romania in WC semifinals

The Romanian men’s sabre team qualified for the semifinals of the World Fencing Championships in Paris. World title holders, the Ro­ma­nian players will play against Russia in a game counting for a place in the final. Romania played against Germany in the quarterfinals. Germany had previously eliminated Hungary, winner of the bronze medal at the last edition of the world championships, in the last-16 stage. Romania defeated Germany, score 45-42, taking an important step toward defending the world title it won last year in Antalya. Russia eliminated South Korea in the quarterfinals, score 45-32.
