A bill that was silently adopted by the Senate yesterday gives victims of domestic violence the right to ask for a provisional go order and courts may be given the power to ban domestic abusers from victims’ homes on a temporary basis. The court may also order the abuser to meet specific and certain costs incurred by the victim, such as medical, court and eviction expenses, as well as lodging and care for the victim. The court will also be able to take protection measures in respect of placing juveniles into care, aliment and welfare. The draft law will now be tabled in the Chamber of Deputies for a final decision.
