Vasilescu: We will conduct a restructuring of BNR

The National Bank of Romania (BNR) is preparing to restructure its activity, starting from the last correlation between the Central Bank’s activity and that of the ECB, but the process was only discussed in principles, without coming to numbers, Adrian Vasilescu, counselor of the BNR governor, announced yesterday, quoted by Mediafax. “This would be about the 5th restructuring of the Central Bank; it will focus not on laying off personnel,” Vasilescu explained. According to the same source, the restructuring also aims at modernising the supervisory activity, which is mainly conducted at the Bank’s headquarters, the same as it is the case with the ECB.
