Pirelli, Comunita Nuova and Inter kick off new InterCampus season in Slatina

The new season of the InterCampus programme for the children of Slatina, supported by Pirelli Group, FC Internazionale and the ‘Comunita Nuova’ Association, opens with the varnishing of the photo exhibition ‘Becoming a hero.’

On November 10 last year, famous Romanian footballer Cristian Chivu – who plays for Internazionale Milano and the Romanian national team – opened in Slatina the sporting campus of the InterCampus programme, jointly developed by Pirelli and the ‘Comunita Nuova’ Association.

One year after the Pirelli event, ‘Comunita Nuova’ and Inter Milano are now opening a new season of sport and play activities – for the 80 children of the Slatina InterCampus Programme – with the varnishing of a photo exhibition. The more than 40 snapshots were made by the children themselves, under the guidance of Italian photographer Luca Meola, during the photographic workshop called ‘Becoming a hero.’

“I came to Slatina full of curiosity and wishing to know more about this town and its people. I discovered Slatina through the eyes of children <> with cameras. We walked together and photographed people, various places, personalities and situations. The way they looked… pure curiosity, but also instinct. Then I realised that this photographic workshop started like a game, but eventually turned into an exhibition of these small, but GREAT photographers,” Luca Meola said.

“First of all, the <> workshop is an appreciation of the valuable talent and work of the 12 small participants in the homonymous photographic workshop organised by InterCampus during the summer campus of July 2010. Without pretending that these are professional photographs, we are proud with this exhibition, as these pictures represent children’s expressiveness and vibration for the surrounding environment,” said Constantina Patrascu, coordinating trainer of InterCampus Slatina.

At the conclusion of the event, diplomas and gifts were offered to the 12 children who completed their training with InterCampus Slatina, as they turned 14 this year – the maximum age for the beneficiaries of the social programme.

The photo exhibition “Becoming a hero” will be open for public at the ‘Ion Minulescu’ County Library of Slatina, until November 22.
