Gloria Bistrita – CFR Cluj 3-0, match-fixing claims by Steaua

CFR Cluj outplayed Gloria Bistrita 3-0 (0-0) away Monday evening in the last game of round 15 of Romania’s Bergenbier football League 1. The crown champions have therefore made up for their defeat and consequent elimination from Romania’s Cup quarterfinals 0-1 at home, thanks to goals scored by Lacina Traore, on 55 and 71 minutes, and substitute Sasa Bjelanovic, 85, inspired fielded by coach Sorin Sartu. Goalie Calin Albut gaffed at Traore;’s first point, having defected his goal against Cadu’s penalty shot 33 minutes into the first half. The balance of the game decidedly tilted to CFR’s side on 69 minutes, when Nalati, fielded just nine minutes before, earned two yellow cards within the space of just seven minutes and was sent off.

After the match, Gigi Becali suggested that Gloria Bistrita would not have played in earnest.

“It’s clear. At the recess it happened what was supposed to happen! The goalie is downright hilarious. You can do it, yet not quite like this. It may have involved three to four players, like in the old days. Maybe one of those three handed off in the six yard box. At the break, they saw it wouldn’t work with those three and decided, let’s do it with Albut!”

For his part, Jean Padureanu, president of Gloria Bistrita, pointed the finger at foreign players, saying he had nothing to reproach to goalkeeper Calin Albut. The club official thinks some of the players did not play as they should have yet virulently denied any match-fixing allegations.
