NATO lawmakers’ assembly elects German as new head

German Karl Lamers was elected Tuesday as the new head of NATO’s parliamentary assembly, which groups lawmakers from the alliance’s 28 member states, expatica.com reported. Lamers, a lawmaker from Germany’s ruling Christian Democratic Union, was elected unanimously at a session of the assembly in the Polish capital Warsaw. He replaces John Tanner, a US Democratic member of Congress whose term has ended after two years at the helm.
