Udrea does not exclude running for Bucharest mayor

The Liberal-Democrat Elena Udrea said on Tuesday she did not exclude from start her running for mayor of Bucharest. ‘The organisation leader has an obligation to provide the best candidate (…), but I do not exclude the option of supporting a candidate who is not a member of the party’, she said yesterday. Udrea also noted that, so far, she was the only candidate for president of the PDL organisation of Bucharest, adding she might team up with Cristian Preda and Costica Canacheu as vice-presidents. Elena Udrea reiterated the fact that Monica Macovei, Cristian Preda, Teodor Baconschi and Sever Voinescu were a gain for PDL and could become members of the party national leading team at any time.

The deputy president of the Democratic Liberal Party (PDL), Sulfina Barbu, stated, yesterday, that she would encourage the deputy Costica Canacheu to run for office in the party’s Bucharest organization. In her opinion, competition for the leadership of PDL’s Bucharest organization is welcome. Sulfina Barbu states, however, that she does not back people, but “programs”.
