MTI took over CFR Palace, to cover debt

The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure (MTI) took over the Romanian Railways (CFR) Palace, the building in which the institution operates, to make up for a RON 109.2 M-debt, after blocking CFR’s accounts, Mediafax reports.

According to MTI, the CFR Palace will not be transferred under the authority of the Autonomous Direction for the Administration of State Protocol Patrimony (RA-APPS), and rents for spaces in the building will not be hiked. The CFR Palace will continue to function as the ministry’s office. The building is placed in Sector 1, in the immediate vicinity of the Gara de Nord. MTI and several institutions under its command operate in the building.
