Ursus factory in Cluj to close down

The Ursus beer factory in Cluj is set to close down and will remain a mini-unit, the head of Sab Miller, Gary Whitlie, stated, quoted by Realitatea.net. All the employees of Ursus Cluj are in technical unemployment until December 31, and the company’s board started to sack people. According to the director of the Cluj County Employment Agency, Daniel Don, “Ursus is, at present, based in Bucharest. My colleagues there told me that they had been notified of the dismissal of over 40 people.” The information was confirmed by the trade union leader, Ionel Gansca. According to rumours on the market, the beer-production is to be transferred from Cluj-Napoca to Buzau.
